What are good audition songs and monologues for "Bye Bye Birdie"?

I would not sing a song from the show. It shows real laziness and unpreparedness. Definitely sing something up-tempo. "Nine" is probably not a good resource. It's like singing something from "Wicked"--still on Broadway. The "Nine" movie just came out so it's relatively popular right now. "Bye Bye Birdie" is a pop/rock style musical, so you should sing a song in that same style. "Nothing" from "A Chorus Line" reminds me a lot of "Spanish Rose" and is for a mezzo-soprano. I think "Special" from "Avenue Q" would work really well but is a bit racy. You might consider "Always True to You in My Fashion" from "Kiss Me Kate" as well. You might be able to get away with "Cabaret" from "Cabaret". At the end of the day, sing something that you are comfortable with and that you can totally ROCK. Avoid the morbidly overdone shows, and it's a sad fact of life that the overdone shows are pop/rock shows like "Wicked", "RENT", "Grease", some stuff from "Footloose" and possibly "Aida". Break a leg!
