How to "discipline" your 8 month old?

In the last few months, my little girl has been getting into more and more trouble. Now, I know this is perfectly normal, but I would like some advice on how to not necessarily discipline her, but detour her from doing things she shouldn't. I feel like lately all I do is tell her Ally, NO NO...Though, I try to do the "Ah-AHHH" thing, but it almost never works. Here's my usual routine, I shout her name to try to get her attention towards me, then if that doesn't work, I shout "Ah-AHH", then if that doesn't work, I firmly say "Allyx, NO NO" AND I know some people will think this is horrible, but lately, I've even tried a slight pat on the bottom and then I'll explain that she can't have it and why and get her attention towards something else. Some people say she's too young to attempt "", but, in my defense, I barely pat her and she never cries, she just gets mad that I made her stop what she's doing. Anyhow, any advice to help reduce the amount of "No, NO's"?
