My friend said she has melanoma but the doctors won't do anything about it?

Recently, one of my very close friends came to me and told me that doctors had possibly diagnosed her with melanoma. She told me that it's spreading but the doctors won't do anything for her. She told me that they said "She's to young and she needs to finish growing." I don't know if that's a very reasonable statement. She also said that her parents won't take her to get it checked out because they don't have enough money. I am really worried for her. I don't know if she is paranoid, or worried. I just want to know what I can do for her. She says that her melanoma starts out as small red bumps.
