My computer boots up very slowly. what to do?

It is P IV, 1 GB, 3.0GHz, Win XP system. I'm using Kaspersky 7.0. is there any suggestion?. I tuned up all my startup programs, win services and unnecessary junks using Desktop Maestro, C cleaner and Winpatrol. still problem persists.
